|
The San Marco Gallery of Rome exhibited a series of paintings from December 15-24, 1955. This exhibition portrays the abstract roots of Chinni's later work that would be realized in the form of sculpture. The paintings that comprise this exhibition are of an abstract realism that was particularly evident in much of Chinni's early work. These were among the last of Chinni's paintings created before the shift to sculpture as his primary medium. |

Regarding the images The images below were scanned from black and white photographs taken during the exhibition. The original paintings were in color but are no longer available for photographing as they have since been acquired by private collectors. As a result only the black and white images are available for viewing online. One exception is "Table" which was printed in color as the cover of a booklet written about the exhibition. Some of the digital images may appear blemished or of otherwise poor quality as a result of the condition of the surviving hardcopy prints. |
